Michael Cahr brings 30 years of experience as a venture capitalist, CEO and director of private companies to his role as partner at Focus Equity Partners.
Prior to joining Focus, Mr. Cahr was President of Saxony Consultants, where he provided financial and marketing expertise to organizations worldwide. At Saxony, Mr. Cahr raised millions of dollars for companies in diverse markets, and served as CEO or Chairman as required.
Mr. Cahr’s experience as a venture capitalist includes:
Allscripts, Inc., the leading developer of hand-held devices that provide physicians with real-time access to health, drug and other critical information. Mr. Cahr served as President and CEO from 1994 – 1997.
Allstate Venture Capital, where, as Venture Group Manager, he oversaw investments in technology, healthcare services, biotech and medical services. He invested more than $150 million and served as board member of 11 companies.
C&M Pharmacy, LLC, a specialty pharmacy serving chronically ill patients requiring multiple complex pharmaceutical therapies for treating HIV/AIDS, severe mental illness, transplant and Hepatitis C. Mr. Cahr served on the Board of Directors and ran the company’s day-to-day operations as CEO. (In 2006, Walgreen Company acquired this business.)
BOB, LLC d/b/a Business Only Broadband, BOB owns and operates the largest independent wireless broadband networks in Chicago, New York City and Milwaukee, providing fixed wireless broadband networks and Internet connectivity.
Lifecell Corporation, a Branchburg, New Jersey-based publicly traded tissue-engineering company. Mr. Cahr served as a director.
Truswal Systems, an Illinois Tool Works Inc.-owned software engineering company based in Arlington, Texas. Mr. Cahr served as a director.
PacificHealth Laboratories, a New Jersey-based publicly traded nutritional products firm that develops and commercializes functionally unique nutritional products. Mr. Cahr serves as a director.
Mr. Cahr holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Colgate University and an M.B.A. degree in Business Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
